Filming with the lurking presence of Covid-19 is still a precarious business, as the cast and crew of The Witcher know full well. The Netflix adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski's epic fantasy series of books has been temporarily halted due to an outbreak on the set.
Currently in production of its third season, things appeared to be going swimmingly, as leaked photographs revealed that the show had been recording a fan-favourite scene from the books. The latest season will cover Time of Contempt, the second of Sapkowski's series. Now, though, filming has been paused, as multiple cast members have come down with the virus - including, supposedly, Geralt himself, Henry Cavill.

This isn't the first time the show has stopped production due to the virus, but the third. The first time it shut down was March 2020, around the time of the UK's first lockdown in the early days of the pandemic (the show is filmed in the UK) and the shutdown lasted until August due to Kristofer Hivju, who portrays Nivellen, testing positive in the meantime. The second time was later that year (November 2020), when four member of the crew tested positive.

From what we believe, and this is only based on rumours, this is the first time leading man Henry Cavill himself has tested positive. Netflix has said that production "will be up and running as soon as it is safe to do so." So, although there is no official release date for season 3 as of yet, we'll have to wait a little bit longer before it hits Netflix.
