'Indiana Jones 5' Crew Member Found Dead In Hotel

Tragic news

A crew member working on the Indiana Jones 5 has been found dead in Morocco where filming on the upcoming sequel was taking place.

The New York Post reports Nic Cupac, a 54-year-old grip on the film’s 2nd unit, was found dead in his hotel room in the city of Fes. Walt Disney Studios confirmed the tragic news to the publication. It also stated that his death was not related to the film’s production. The cause of death has yet to be released.

“Our hearts go out to the family and friends of Nic Cupac, an incredibly talented colleague and member of the film community who will be greatly missed,” a Disney rep said in a statement obtained by the Post.

Cupac had worked in production on a number of major franchises for over 20 years, including Harry Potter, Star Wars, and Jurassic Park. As grip, his work involved putting together and managing the rigs used during shooting. According to the Post, he had only recently arrived in Morocco to work on Indiana Jones 5

The long-awaited sequel was originally supposed to release this summer, but has since been delayed to 2023 due to a variety of problems during production. The COVID-19 pandemic, banned flights, and the 79-year-old Harrison Ford suffering an injury during rehearsal for an action scene all contributed to the movie being pushed back.

Our thoughts are with Cupac’s family, friends, and colleagues at this difficult time.
