Joe Rogan Argues Chris Pratt Receives Online Hate Because He's Christian

Seems like an oversimplification

Professional loud opinion-haver Joe Rogan has come to the defence of actor Chris Pratt. The divisive broadcaster hit out at the backlash the Guardians Of The Galaxy star has received in recent months, arguing the internet only dislikes Pratt because he's a Christian.

It's true that the internet has been less than thrilled with the recent news that Pratt has somehow landed roles as both Mario and Garfield in upcoming movies, with many questioning whether there might be better choices for both parts. Last year he was always seemingly established as the internet's "least favourite Chris" when compared to fellow actors Chris Evans, Hemsworth, and Pine.

During the December 14 episode the Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Rogan suggested that Pratt doesn't deserve the kicking he receives online every day.

"Even Chris Pratt gets into trouble because he’s Christian,” he argued. “He’s the nicest f**king guy I have ever met in my life. “I don’t give a f**k what they are saying about him. They’re all insane people. What it is, is a bully pile on. These people see someone being vulnerable and they snipe at him. He hasn’t done nothing.”

He continued: “He’s one of the rare guys in Hollywood. He’s a Christian, and pretty open about it. And because of that, they attack him,” he said. “It’s something so simple as he just believes in Jesus and he likes to be a good person. And they are just like “F**K HIM!”

Suggesting that people take issue with Pratt because he's Christian is something of an oversimplification. While the actor has technically been called out in the past as a result of his faith, there's more to it than the fact he's a religious person. It's Pratt's involvement with the allegedly anti LGBTQ+ Zoe Church that critics have a problem with, not the Christianity in general.

A number of stars, most notably Elliot Page, have slammed Zoe Church for its views. Pratt, for his part, insists that his church is not a hateful group, and that it opens its doors to all.
