'Justice League: Final Crisis' Teased By Zack Snyder

Ever since the release of Zack Snyder's Justice League earlier this year, fans have been desperate to see the director carry out the rest of his bold and controversial vision for the DC universe.

Snyder himself has made no secret of the fact that Justice League is far from the end of the ambitious story that started all the way back in 2013 with Man Of Steel. Heck, if you made it through his four-hour cut of the superhero team-up movie, you'll know that he has a lot of ideas left to play with.

While there's been some back and forth as to whether Snyder will ever be allowed by Warner Bros. to revisit these characters, the man himself recently sent fans into a frenzy with a Thanksgiving social media post that appeared to tease a new DC project.

The post itself seemed innocent enough at first glance. Over on Vero, Snyder shared a video of his Thanksgiving turkey, with the caption "thankful". Very festive. However, eagle-eyed fans were quick to notice a copy of Grant Morrison's Absolute Final Crisis in the background with a pair of notebooks resting on top of it. That's pretty darn sus, if you ask me.

For those who might not know, Absolute Final Crisis is a 2008 "event" comic in which Darkseid and his followers finally win against our favourite heroes and take control of the universe.

"Superman, Batman, the Justice League and every other super being in the DC Universe must face when Darkseid and his otherworldly legion of followers in the war between light and dark," reads the book's official synopsis.

There are plenty of similarities between the events of Absolute Final Crisis and the "Knightmare" sequences in Zack Snyder's Justice League, starting with the fact that in both the heroes have lost and Darkseid rules over everything. Batman also dies fighting Darkseid in Morrison's story, something Snyder wanted to explore in his own follow-up.

We also know that Snyder had plans to further explore this post-apocalyptic world in a sequel, which would make Absolute Final Crisis the perfect story to take notes from, wouldn't it?

It's unclear if Justice League Part Two will ever happen exactly the way Snyder wants it. But I can't imagine for a second those notes were just for show. If nothing else, it seems pretty clear from this that Snyder is ready to go the minute Warner Bros. gets in touch. Let's just hope he gets that call.
