Keanu Reeves: breathtaking. There, that’s out of the way. (It’s just something we have to include because otherwise our SEO overlords will kick off. While I’m here, a few more words that’ll help with the ol’ Google situ: Bill and Ted, The Matrix, John Wick, I mean, he’s done a lot of stuff. Point Break? Yeah, original over the remake all day long. Sorry where was…) Ah yeah.
Keanu Reeves has been on the promotional circuit lately, drumming up pre-release coverage for his new movie, The Matrix Resurrections - which we’ve seen(!) and will have content(!) on very soon(!). Speaking to The Verge in a fairly long interview, alongside co-star Carrie-Anne Moss, Reeves covers a lot of bases from cryptocurrency and NFTs to the new movie itself. And then there’s the topic of Cyberpunk 2077 - a game in which he starred and, yeah, it kinda got a kicking on its late 2020 release for being a buggy, broken mess. It’s been improved, over the past year - but CD Projekt Red’s highly anticipated action-RPG is still rather less than what players were expecting.

Asked about the game by The Verge’s interviewer, Alex Heath - after he also discusses the new Epic Unreal Engine 5 experience, The Matrix Awakens (out now for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles) - Reeves says that he’s not actually managed to play Cyberpunk 2077 yet, but he has watched other folk play it. And then, as picked up by Kotaku, things take a sexy turn as the stars are told about Cyberpunk 2077 mods - particularly those used by players who wanted to bump ugly with Reeves’ character, Johnny Silverhand. Mods that CDPR quickly moved to shut down.

“Oh my god, it’s always nice, when it’s nice, and…y’know,” muttered Reeves, evidently not against the idea that folks want to have virtual sexytimes with him. Like his fists-clenched “yes” (about 17 minutes into The Verge’s video, below) wasn’t also a giveaway that he’s perfectly okay with it. Moss on the other hand: big nope.
“I say no thank you,” she says. “Keanu’s fine with it,” she adds, before Reeves interjects: “Think about how much money there is in porn. So you could not even be there, and people could have digital sex with your digital avatar.” Moss, understandably, lifts her hand to her face like, what, what actually, are you saying here, Keanu. Who, by now, is thinking about “arousal metrics” and Swedish-made suits you could use to, um, get closer still to that digital experience.
“I hope that I do not live to see this,” Moss says. Modders, on the other hand: hey, Keanu’s into it, so go nuts I guess. Not sure “nut” was the right word to use, in retrospect, but I’ve used it, and there we are. The Matrix Resurrections releases in cinemas on December 22, and keep those peepers open for more coverage of the movie on GAMINGbible very soon.
