HBO’s adaptation of The Last of Us inches ever closer and oh man, I’m excited. It’s thought that the ten-episode first season is costing HBO in excess of $100 million dollars, and leaked set videos of Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey in action as Joel and Ellie haven’t disappointed. We also know that video game actors Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson will return in undisclosed key roles, and now the casting of two fan-favourite characters has been announced.

Excited for The Last of Us Part I? We compared the new-gen remake’s graphics to those of the remaster. Take a look below.

As revealed by IGN, HBO have officially cast the roles of Sam and Henry. Henry will be portrayed by actor Lamar Johnson, and his younger brother Sam will be brought to life by Keivonn Woodard. Johnson is perhaps best known for starring in X-Men: Dark Phoenix and The Hate U Give, whilst Woodard is much newer to the acting scene.

There are two major changes in store for the characters. In the game, Ellie and Joel meet the duo in Pittsburgh but in the TV series, they will encounter each other in Kansas City with the brothers “hiding from a revolutionary movement seeking vengeance.” Woodard is also a deaf actor which supports previous casting calls seen for the role of Sam. This too is a change from the game and will likely play into the story.

It was also revealed that Graham Greene and Elaine Miles will guest star as Marlon and Florence, two brand new characters. Marlon and Florence are reportedly “a married couple surviving alone in the wilderness of post-apocalyptic Wyoming.” The Last of Us has completed filming so we know these decisions were made quite some time ago which begs the question, when will we find out who’s playing David?
