The Last Of Us voted Greatest Game of All Time in massive new poll

The Last Of Us has been voted the 'Greatest Game of All Time' in massive new poll.

We all have that one game, or franchise, that we love wholeheartedly. For me, it’s The Last of Us - and I could quite literally rave about the perfection that is The Last of Us Part II for forever a day. It looks as if I’m not alone though, as The Last of Us has been voted the greatest game of all time in a huge new poll.

It was an incredible start to the year for The Last of Us fans with the release of season one of HBO’s brilliant TV adaptation. Admittedly, that was followed by the abysmal The Last of Us Part I PC release, but I think the less said about that, the better. The situation hasn’t entirely improved since then. Naughty Dog’s upcoming The Last of Us multiplayer project has seemingly been put on the backburner in recent weeks. The project was due to be unveiled at last month’s PlayStation Showcase but after a review from fellow studio Bungie, Naughty Dog were left questioning the long-term viability of the game, forcing them to focus their efforts elsewhere. Namely, a new single-player project is in the works. Well, we still don’t know what that is but in the meantime, Naughty Dog’s original game has garnered yet another well-earned accolade.

PlayStation’s next major exclusive is Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Take a look at villain Kraven The Hunter in action below.

The poll was carried out by Empire who asked readers to vote for the 100 greatest games of all time. The winner? The Last of Us. The game’s story, impact, and characters were all praised. In descending order, the remainder of the top 10 was made up by The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Elden Ring, Tetris, Super Mario 64, Final Fantasy VII, BioShock, Grand Theft Auto V, Pokémon Red/Blue/Yellow, and Minecraft.

Halo: Combat Evolved, Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, Shadow of the Colossus, Street Fighter II, The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time, World of Warcraft, The Last of Us Part II, Final Fantasy IX, The Witcher III: Wild Hunt, and Spider-Man: Miles Morales rounded out the top 20 in that order. I’m surprised that Miles outranked the original Marvel’s Spider-Man. In fact, the latter didn’t even rank.

Let’s take a look at some other typically popular picks. Bloodborne ranked at 27, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves at 29, and Red Dead Redemption 2 at 30. God of War ranked at 38, Horizon Zero Dawn at 55, and Super Mario Odyssey at 64. You can view the full list which I’m sure will generate plenty of discussion.
