The Lego and Nintendo partnership just keeps on giving. Not only have we had some brilliant Lego sets recreating famous moments and characters from the Super Mario Bros universe, but we’re now going to see the two brands come together with a Mario Kart set, which will release in 2025.
Announced yesterday for Mario day, a short teaser trailer was released for the project showing very little and leaving a lot to our imagination. Showing a black screen a white highlight outlined several images of karts, keeping all of the details literally in the dark. We didn’t get to see much at all, but given the power of both brands, we can easily speculate.
Lego have already been working with Nintendo for some time now
Perhaps the biggest question isn’t what these karts will look like, but how the Mario Kart sets will look overall. The karts will be the easiest thing to imagine, but what courses will Lego recreate? Will we see a variety of different karts? Which characters will feature? Will we get Lego versions of some of the weapons? There are too many questions.

It’s pretty likely that these will be small karts to be placed on a larger track, but will the Mario Kart set feature actual mini-figures of the characters rather than the oversize chunky models we’ve seen in the Mario World sets. It’s also likely that these karts will have rotating wheels allowing for proper play. Beyond that, your guess is as good as ours.
So, which characters do you want to see? Having always picked Yoshi since I first played the SNES version as a kid, I’ve got to hope that the dino is part of the crew. It’s pretty obvious that Mario, Luigi and Peach will make an appearance, and it would be shocking not to see Bowser. But will we get Shy Guy? Or Wario and Waluigi? I guess we’ll be waiting until later in the year to find out more.
