'Lord Of The Rings: Gollum' Gets New Gameplay Trailer

'Lord Of The Rings: Gollum' Gets New Gameplay Trailer

It's less than two months to go until the release of The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, and a new trailer has dropped, showcasing more gameplay.

In case you missed it, at the end of May, The Lord Of The Rings: Gollum finally got given a release date, and although it might not have felt quite so overdue as God of War: Ragnarök (which finally got given an official release date yesterday), it was still news which was gratefully received by fans, especially since even at the time, we didn’t have much longer to wait for the game.

Now, we have under two months to go - the title is set to sneak onto PCPS4, PS5Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on 1 September (and Nintendo Switch “later this year”). Excited? Well, just to shake up that metaphorical fizzy bottle of hype a bit more, a brand new trailer just dropped, giving us a bigger look at Gollum’s gameplay and environments.

Enough from me, take a look at the new trailer right here.

The game, which will give us fresh new insight into Gollum’s time “behind-the-scenes” at the beginning of The Fellowship of the Ring, is a story-driven action-adventure with stealth elements baked in: “After losing his precious ring to Bilbo Baggins, Gollum decides to leave the Misty Mountains and embark on a perilous journey that leads him from the dungeons of Barad-dûr to the realm of the Wood-elves in Mirkwood,” a press release reads. “In order to survive the dangers of his journey through Middle-earth, Gollum has to sneak and climb and use all his cunning. He also has to deal with his Hobbit-self - Sméagol. It’s up to the players if they want Gollum to have the upper hand when it comes to making important decisions, or if they prefer to allow Sméagol to take over. Gollum also encounters well-known characters from the books as well as a few new faces.”

As for the new trailer, some of the Middle-earth locations we can see here look genuinely beautiful, but as for Gollum himself? I know he was never exactly a heartthrob, but still - that scraggy bowl cut could give Will Byers a run for his money.

Haircuts aside, Gollum will be upon us very soon.
