Lord Of The Rings fans are praising a turn-based RPG you might not know about, and it’s called Lord Of The Rings: The Third Age.
As popular as The Lord Of The Rings is, it’s surprising there aren’t many games in development for fans to relive some of its best moments. That being said, the fantasy franchise has had some pretty poor video game adaptations, like of the worst video games of 2023, Gollum, which was so bad the developer had to provide an apology…written by AI.

That being said, some Lord Of The Rings games can be incredibly fun, though one you might not have heard of is Lord Of The Rings: The Third Age. It was a turn-based RPG released in 2004 for the original Xbox, the PlayStation 2 and the Nintendo GameCube.

It’s being hailed as “awesome” in a recent Reddit post, highlighting its “solid combat, story and skill system”. Those who’ve played it shared their thoughts on the game in the comments, many of whom had fond memories of their time with the RPG. Some even expressed interest in a remake, remaster or a sequel of some kind if EA was interested.
“Loved that this game also had an 'Evil Mode' (can't remember the actual name of it) where you got to play some of the game's battles as the bad guys,” one comment read.
“And it was better than it had any right to be. Fond memories. Would buy a remaster," said one fan, while another added, “And it was good ! I have great memories of this game. Also the replayability was great.”
When you think about a turn-based RPG, it is the best genre for a Lord Of The Rings game. With new films reportedly on the horizon, and the never-ending popularity of the series in general, perhaps we’ll finally get another AAA video game that does the books and films justice.
