Mark Hamill Shares Touching Birthday Tribute To Star Wars Co-Star Carrie Fisher

“Happy Birthday to a very special someone

Star Wars icon Mark Hamill has shared a touching tribute to co-star and friend Carrie Fisher on what would have been her 65th Birthday.

Fisher, who played the incomparable Leia Organa in the original Star Wars trilogy and the more recent sequels, suffered a heart attack in 2016 and passed away a few days later. She was 60 years old.

The loss of the beloved star is still felt every day by Star Wars fans around the world. Though such loss will always be felt more keenly by those lucky enough to have known her. Over on Twitter, Hamill shared a heartwarming post that remembers Fisher as a kind and loving presence on set. The photo itself is also a wonderful behind-the-scenes glimpse at the friendship the actors shared.

“Happy Birthday to a very special someone who was never not fun & always highly tolerant of my juvenile on-set high jinks... even when she wasn't in the mood,” Hamill wrote.

The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson also explained how vital Fisher’s contributions were in a previously released video from LucasFilm.

"Carrie was, you know, a writer first and foremost. She loved words," Johnson recalled. "We would get together and we would go over the scenes. We wouldn't rewrite the scenes but she would throw out suggestions for jokes, and lines, and ideas. And we'd go back and forth."

"There are a few scenes that we got together with her and the other actors in the scene and kind of shaped it," Johnson added. "I mean, if you have Carrie Fisher standing there with you, you'd be a fool not to use her writing talents. That was probably her main contribution."
