When it comes to a possible appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Henry Cavill has his eye on a specific hero and we can't imagine anyone else as the character now.

As well as appearing in Zack Snyder’s Justice League, the actor is presently up to his elbows in project after project. There’s the second season of The Witcher, of course, and he’s confirmed that he’s enthusiastic to continue playing our favourite white-haired monster hunter til the seventh season, if showrunner Lauren Schmidt-Hissrich has her way. He’s returning to Enola Holmes 2 playing Sherlock Holmes and he’s landed a role in the Highlander reboot. Cavill is also playing a spy — not that one, no — in Argylle, an adaptation of a novel following an amnesiac spy — not that one either

Here's the official trailer for the second season of The Witcher!

And I thought I was busy. “Something has changed, something has shifted,” explained the actor in this interview with The Hollywood Reporter. “After 21 years of hard work, I have three jobs lined up. Maybe it’s me, maybe it’s my approach, maybe my value as a commodity increases being attached to things like The Witcher. Now I can really focus on the storytelling and grow from here.”

Well, something that is not moving and shaking is the character of Superman. The omission of the hero from the posters on the side of the Warner Bros. Studio Tour Hollywood building rankled fans and it’s unsure whether or not DC Films has intentions for Cavill to reprise his role. However, there is a new HBO Max series in the works with Michael B. Jordan which will centre on a Black Superman, though we don’t know how far along that project is.

Naturally, the topics of DC and Marvel came to the fore during the interview, and Cavill has been musing about which Marvel character he would like to portray. “I have the internet and I have seen the various rumors about Captain Britain and that would be loads of fun to do a cool, modernized version of that — like the way they modernized Captain America,” answered Cavill. “There’s something fun about that, and I do love being British.”

Oh my gosh, who says “I have the internet” other than grumbly hermits who are out in the sticks being introduced to the myriad normalities of contemporary life? An actor with a net worth of $40 million, it seems.

“I’m very happy to keep doing movies that use action as a form of storytelling, and I have no particular desire to say, ‘I just want to do drama now,’ ” continued Cavill, expressing that he aims to still perform all of his own stunts as he ages. “I enjoy being in the best shape of my life, year after year, despite the injuries. I want to be pushed so I can get better. I don’t want to sit down.”
