Marvel's Spider-Man 2 sells over 5 million copies in 11 days

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 sells over 5 million copies in 11 days

That's a lot of happy Spider-Man fans

It's perhaps no surprise that Marvel's Spider-Man 2 has been selling incredibly well. Sony gave us a bit of an update on just how successful the game has been, confirming that over 5 million copies have been sold in just 11 days, since the game went on sale.

The game's developer, Insomniac, released a social media update saying "Woo! We're incredibly honoured to announce Marvel's Spider-Man 2 on PS5 has sold over five million copies! Thank you to our incredible community for supporting us and helping us reach this milestone!"

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 has been well received by pretty much every player and critic

Sony had recently announced that Spider-Man 2 was the fastest-selling game from a PlayStation studio over a 24-hour period. During this time the game sold more than 2.5 million copies, so while purchasing slowed a little, fans of the webhead have continued to buy the new adventure.

The only competition comes from God of War Ragnarok, although that had a bigger install base as it appeared on PS4, too. So, it's an impressive feat considering not all PlayStation players have upgraded to the PS5 as yet. With the release of the slim model and the upcoming Christmas period, Sony is sure to see another spike in sales soon.

The figures are mind-boggling but not a surprise, the game has been praised by pretty much everyone who has had a chance to play. In this latest Spidey adventure Peter Parker and Miles Morales had to team up to defeat Kraven the Hunter and Venom in a story that many agree is one of Venom's best appearances.

As Ewan wrote in his review of the game, "This is an amazing fantasy come to life and realised like never before. Insomniac Games has crafted yet another heartfelt Spider-Man story bursting with twists, turns, and show-stopping spectacle."
