'Marvel's Spider-Man' On PC Might Be Getting Multiplayer Co-Op And PvP

Some hidden files in the PC port Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered suggest that a co-op and PvP mode could be coming in the future.

The PC port of Marvel's Spider-Man released on Friday, making for a spectacular addition to PlayStation’s growing library of games available on what many people would argue to be a superior platform. In his review, GAMINGbible’s James Daly gave the port a generous 9/10, saying that “from the endlessly satisfying web-swinging to the clever RPG elements, from the rich cast of characters to the hard-hitting main story, this is one of the best games I’ve ever played”.

Take a look at the trailer for the PC port of Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered below.

As excellent as the original game was, one thing it was always missing was the addition of a multiplayer mode. Not that it needed one, per se, but who wouldn’t want to swing around New York with a friend? At first glance, it’d appear that the PC port follows suit in making the web-slinging action-adventure a pure single-player experience, but as reported by VGC, some files within the game have indicated that this might not be the case forever.

Spotted by @dniwetamp on Twitter (and verified by VGC), there are some files which suggest that both a PvP and co-op mode either existed at some point during the game’s development and got scrapped, or may be coming to the game in an update in the future. As far as the PvP mode is concerned, it sounds like two players could battle it out as Peter Parker and Miles Morales to determine the “Superior Spider-Man”.

Right now though, it’s not known exactly what the existence of these files really means - we’ll just have to stay tuned for updates.
