Max Payne is an iconic video game series of yesteryear that even spawned a live-action movie starring Mark Wahlberg, though the less said about that adaptation, the better.
As for the video game series, it started life in 2001 for the PC, PlayStation 2 and the original Xbox. It later spawned some fantastic sequels with the latter arriving in 2012 with Max Payne 3. However, as you can see at the time of writing, fans have been waiting more than a decade for a new game featuring everyone’s favourite rogue NYPD detective.

Fans won't be getting Max Payne 4 for a while, but we are getting full remakes of the original two games in the series which entered full development towards the end of 2023. Developed by Remedy Entertainment (the original studio of the series) and with the financial backing of Rockstar Games parent company Take-Two Interactive, both games will be remade from the ground up as a single entity.

At the time of writing, the Max Payne remakes do not have a release date. However, until the official remakes arrive we can at least get a glimpse of what could be thanks to a concept remake trailer by TeaserPlays powered by Unreal Engine 5 and the result is a thing of beauty. The concept trailer is also supported by the instantly recognisable melody of the Max Payne soundtrack and narrated by the late great James McCaffrey.
The Max Payne remake concept trailer showcases the potential of the remake running on maxed-out settings with glorious global illuminations and ray-tracing effects aided by real-time path tracing. If this is a mere taste of what the official remake from Remedy Entertainment will look like, I am even more hyped for its release than I was just a few minutes ago.
It must be stated that this concept remake from TeaserPlays has not been made public to avoid the wrath of the Take-Two Interactive lawyers. The official Max Payne remakes will be released on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
