Michael J Fox has a great idea for Back To The Future reboot

We're on board.

Michael J. Fox has an idea on how to refresh Back to the Future for new viewers in the case of a reboot, and we've got to say, it's simple and effective enough that it might encourage a whole flurry of fans in the new generation.

It's worth a reminder now that director Robert Zemeckis and writer Bob Gale are adamantly against the idea of bringing Back to the Future... back... in any form. "There will never, ever be, in the most absolutely way, a Back to the Future 4," said Zemeckis in an interview in 2018. "There will be no more Back to the Future." These two are the brains behind the successful sci-fi series, so it's fair that whatever they say, goes. That doesn't necessarily stop irreverent imaginations in their tracks, and in this interview with Entertainment Weekly, Fox shared what he would do if he was handed the reins.

"I actually had this thought that if they did the movie again, they should do it with a girl as Marty," suggested the actor. "What’s most amazing about Back to the Future is that - and it has nothing to do with me - but it has this life. People don’t just like it and remember it, they celebrate it and embrace it and get my face tattooed on their leg, and I mean, it’s crazy but in a good way."

It's the story and possibilities of the series that resonates with viewers both young and old, argued Fox, and that a heroine at the heart of the mile-a-minute script would speak to a whole cohort of new fans. "I love [Back to the Future] and I only recently have been able to embrace it in a way," continued Fox. "Not that I rejected it before, or wasn’t proud of it, but I didn’t fully get how much people related to it, how much it meant to them."
