The first trailer for the upcoming Mission Impossible movie has just dropped, and it’s looking incredible.
Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One is the seventh film in the series, and will be written and directed by Christopher McQuarrie (making this his third film in the series, after Rogue Nation and Fallout).

It was first announced back in January 2019 that Mission Impossible’s seventh and eighth movies were in development (with the eighth being Dead Reckoning Part Two). However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Part One has faced some significant delays - it was originally supposed to release on 23 July last year, before being pushed back to 19 November 2021, then 27 May 2022, 30 September 2022, and finally to 2023. Understandably, Part Two has also been pushed back for the same reason - it’s apparently going to be reaching cinemas by 2024 (according to Wikipedia).

Tom Cruise is obviously making his return as Ethan Hunt, but will also be serving as a producer alongside McQuarrie. David Ellison (Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol and Fallout), Dana Goldberg (I Am Legend), Don Granger (Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation), and Tommy Gormley (also Rogue Nation and Fallout) are the executive producers.
Reprising their roles are Vanessa Kirby (Alanna Mitsopolis), Ving Rhames (Luther Stickell), Henry Czerny (Eugene Kittridge), Rebecca Ferguson (Ilsa Faust), Simon Pegg (Benji Dunn) and Frederick Schmidt (Zola). There’s going to be plenty of fresh faces too, including Pom Klementieff (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2), Shea Whigham (Boardwalk Empire), and Esai Morales (American Family).
This is the longest we’ve had to wait for a new Mission Impossible movie since 2011’s Ghost Protocol, so hopefully it’ll be worth the wait. A proper synopsis hasn’t been given yet, leaving fans to try and figure out as best they can what’s going on from this new teaser alone, but there’s no doubt that the final movie will be full of the high-tension, action packed scenes we’ve all come to expect from the series.
