Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II continues to catapult from strength to strength and is close to outselling Call of Duty: Vanguard's total lifetime sales in just one month on the market.
Activision itself said that Vanguard was dragged down by a lack of innovation and imagination in its World War II setting, and it is actually one of the worst-selling entries in the series to date. The publisher then threw their teams into the development of Modern Warfare II in order to ensure history wouldn't be repeated.
"We are working on the most ambitious plan in Call of Duty history, with over 3,000 people now working on the franchise and a return to the Modern Warfare setting that delivered our most successful Call of Duty title ever," said Activision in May.

According to data released by GSD in the UK, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II's first week sales have surged past those of Vanguard - by a massive 125%. The report continues to claim that Modern Warfare II is likely to eclipse Vanguard's lifetime sales in just one month, which underscores how poorly Vanguard performed and how much the work has paid off for Modern Warfare II. Quite literally.
Two weeks ago, Activision's attempt to dismiss one of its gender discrimination lawsuits was denied by Second Appellate District of the Court of Appeal. While Activision asserted that the ruling was "disappointing" and does not reflect the facts, the California Civil Rights Department stated it will continue "[to pursue] relief for the thousands of women in California who have suffered sex-based discrimination, harassment, and retaliation as Activision workers."

Following this, Activision's chief communications officer has been accused of sharing "anti-union propaganda" in the company's Slack server, only one week after Blizzard Albany's QA team won the right to unionise.
