‘Ms. Marvel’ Trailer Drops Online, And It Looks Amazing

We've just got our first look at the upcoming Marvel series Ms. Marvel, which is set to premiere on 8 June, exclusively on Disney+.

We just got our first look at the upcoming Disney+ series Ms. Marvel, and it looks incredible. The series will introduce us to Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani), a 16-year-old Muslim American girl from New Jersey, who, after seeing on screen for under two minutes, I can already tell you I’d protect at all costs.

“An avid gamer and a voracious fan-fiction scribe, Kamala is a Super Hero mega-fan with an oversized imagination - particularly when it comes to Captain Marvel,” reads an official post on Marvel’s website. “Yet Kamala feels invisible both at home and at school - that is, until she gets super powers like the heroes she’s always looked up to. Life gets better with super powers, right?”

Check out the trailer for Ms. Marvel right here.

Kamala Khan is a fairly fresh face amongst Marvel’s roster of superheroes - she made her debut in the Captain Marvel comics back in 2013, before later getting her own series in 2014, and in turn, becoming Marvel’s first Muslim character to headline her own comic book (cheers, Wikipedia).

She then went on to appear as a playable character in (the admittedly questionable) Marvel’s Avengers, and played a very important role in the story, as she brings all the Avengers back together five years after they faced defeat during the events of A-Day. No better person for the job than a Marvel superfan, right?

Fans are really excited to see Ms. Marvel make her on-screen debut: “This seems to be a [chill] and cozy show, can't wait[,] hopefully we'll get to see Captain Marvel [as well] again on this,” tweeted @vsoliveira21. “I love her[,] and I'm so excited for Ms. Marvel and love from me to the actors and the people behind the cameras,” wrote @BigFanMarvel2.

Alongside Vellani, some of the cast include Aramis Knight (Into the Badlands), Rish Shah (To All the Boys: Always and Forever), and Zenobia Shroff (The Big Sick). The series is being directed by Adil El Arbi & Bilall Fallah, Meera Menon, and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, with Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, and Bisha K. Ali as executive producers. It’s set to premiere exclusively on Disney+ on 8 June, so there’s not too long to wait.
