In the wake of Netflix’s far less than spectacular TV adaptation of Resident Evil, it’s easy to forget that there are yet more game-to-screen adaptations in the works for the streaming giant. Which, y’know, doesn’t immediately bode will given the state of the aforementioned horror series, but fear not.
Cast your mind back to March this year, and you might remember that a Tekken anime series was announced for Netflix, along with a teaser trailer. What’s more, it did genuinely look pretty good - the series is set to follow the story of Jin Kazama, the son of Jun Kazama and antagonist Kazuya Mishima, and grandson of Heihachi Mishima, aka The King of Iron Fist. Now, we’ve just been given a whole new trailer and release date, and things are continuing to look promising.

As GameSpot reports, the plot follows Jin’s quest for revenge after his mother is seemingly killed by the villainous Ogre. Following his mother’s instruction, Jin seeks out his grandfather and asks him to train him to become strong enough to take on Ogre himself. Basically, it seems to quite largely follow the events of Tekken 3 - whether or not there’ll be anything significant changed for the sake of the series is yet to be seen.

As you can see in the trailer, the animators have (quite literally) not pulled any punches when it comes to creating those all-important fight scenes - blood is spilled and characters are bruised. While it doesn’t look like the series will be gory by any means, it’s certainly not meant for kids.
Despite only just getting our first look at Tekken: Bloodline a few months ago, the release date is super soon. Excitingly, the show will premiere exclusively on Netflix on 18 August, so we have less than a month to wait.
