Day Shift, Netflix's newest action-comedy starring Jamie Foxx as a daredevil vampire bounty hunter, has flown to the top of the service's streaming charts.
With shows like First Kill, Midnight Mass and What We Do in the Shadows getting a warm welcome from fans of the supernatural, as well as the reboot of Marvel's Blade on the horizon, this trend poses one simple and straightforward question. Are vampires cool again?

You fool. You utter, utter chump. Of course they're cool, they've never not been cool. They're especially cool when you put them in a film with Jamie Foxx, Snoop Dogg and Dave Franco, killing vampires by smashing them through TVs, and the whole thing is directed by J. J. Perry. That's one of the stunt performers behind some of the most iconic films in the genre like Mortal Kombat, Iron Man, Avatar, Django Unchained and more, with three decades of experience raising the bar on the most impressive stunts possible.
While the critical reception of Day Shift has been a little lukewarm, with one reviewer describing it to be "the kind of thing you might, after some scrolling, absentmindedly click to watch on and end up watching for its sheer watchability." Accordingly, it's been a roaring runaway success with Netflix subscribers, and given its appeal, it could sit at the top of the heap for some time.
