New Call Of Duty Anti-Cheat System Lets You One-Shot Hackers

As Call Of Duty's seemingly unending war on hackers rages on, an incredible new anti-cheat has been introduced.

It's no secret that several entries in the popular shooter - particularly the free-to-play Call Of Duty: Warzone - have been plagued with cheaters in recent years, forcing Activision to adopt all sorts of new methods... very few of which have actually worked in the long run.

In October last year, Activision proudly unveiled a new Call Of Duty anti-cheat system called Ricochet. This overhauled system meant business, apparently, and cheaters around the world were put on notice. Hackers broke it in a day.

Unbowed, the various Call Of Duty development teams have continued to attempt tweak and improve Ricochet and push back the tide of cheaters. It's not been hugely successful, if I'm being honest, but it's latest feature will at least give players a few laughs before hackers inevitable find a way to turn it against us.

Ricochet's latest features essentially identify when a cheater is in a game, and then actively gives every other player the tools they need to deal with that cheater.

For example, being hit with bullets fired by a hacker will erect a damage shield that immediately sends the bullets flying right back at the offending player. In other instances, as soon as the game recognizes a cheater is active, it'll make it so that every other player is completely invisible to that cheater.

It remains to be seen how effective this will be longer term, but for now we can at least enjoy trolling hackers for that brief window we'll have before they inevitably work out a way around it.
