New Gears Of War confirmed in job listing

New Gears Of War confirmed in job listing

The Coalition is hiring multiple senior developers for a new Gears of War game.

Fear not, Gears of War fans, the wait for new content is finally nearing its end.

Late last year, it was confirmed that Netflix is working on a Gears of War movie and adult animated series. We still know very, very little about either of these things - basically the entire internet is in agreement that Dave Bautista should play Marcus Fenix, and both he and the franchise’s creator think so, too. Sadly, as of last month, the actor is still yet to get the call. Make it happen, Netflix.

Bautista recently starred in Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery - take a look at the trailer below.

As exciting as new TV and film content is, fans are obviously eager to see a new game release. The last main release came out in 2019, so we’re definitely due something new. Well, as Eurogamer reports, something is definitely in the works over at The Coalition right now, as the studio is currently hiring for 13 senior positions for a new Gears of War game.

Unfortunately, the positions themselves don’t really give much more away - they’re the usual sort of roles you’d expect for a game like this such as “lead mission designer”, “senior multiplayer designer” and “senior VFX artist”. I’m not going to pretend to know the ins and outs of the game development process, but it sure seems like a lot of people to bring on - hopefully that indicates that it’s a main series game rather than a spinoff.

Sadly, The Coalition still hasn’t actually announced the game, so we don’t have much idea of what it’s going to be called or when it’s coming out. Rest assured that something is happening though, and hey, if you’re a senior game dev, maybe you could go and make it happen. Bet you weren’t expecting a job recommendation from this article, but there you go.
