A New Star Trek Game Has Reportedly Leaked

Ahh, the age-old debate - Star Wars or Star Trek? It doesn’t matter whether it’s games, movies, or TV shows, nerds will never, and I mean never allow for any two remotely similar things to coexist without taking a stance on which is “objectively” better. Hence console wars still going on to this day - it’s pointless, but like a dog with a bone, you can’t shake off a die-hard fan of, well, anything.

With that in mind, it’s pretty funny that mere days after the release of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, a new Star Trek game has seemingly been leaked online. Couldn’t let the Star Wars fans have their moment, huh? I jest. As reported by GamesRadar+, the Star Trek fansite TrekCore.com posted a banner spotted at the Star Trek: Mission Chicago conference, which seems to quite blatantly reveal the title.

A different Star Trek game, Resurgence, was officially revealed at The Game Awards last year - take a look below.

According to the banner, the game is called Star Trek: Prodigy - Supernova, and will be coming to Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS4/5, Switch, and PC. It’ll apparently be developed by Tessera Games (a Spanish team founded in 2017), and will also be worked on by Outright Games, who’ve been involved with quite a lot of licensed titles, including some Paw Patrol games, and the absolute banger that is My Friend Peppa Pig. So, uh, that’s something?

Other than the box art, which is right there if you wanna try spotting any hidden secrets, the final piece of information we have to glean here is that we’ll be finding out more about the game next month on Outright Games’ YouTube channel. I mean, chances are, we’ll be discovering if it’s real or not far sooner than that - the convention kicked off today, and will be running through til Sunday, so sometime between now and then, you’d think it’d get officially confirmed.

Either way, sounds interesting? In December last year, it was announced that another Star Trek game, Star Trek: Resurgence, is in the works, and is set to be released early to mid 2022. Soon, then? That one’s being developed by a bunch of ex-Telltale devs, so it’s sounding promising - I certainly have more faith in that one being good than one created by the minds behind a Peppa Pig game, to be honest.
