New The Last Of Us horror adventure announced

New The Last Of Us horror adventure announced for Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights.

Just a few days ago, The Last of Us marked its 10th anniversary. It’s a game that means so much to so many of us, and it was nice to take a trip down memory lane.

That being said, some fans were left slightly disappointed by the occasion. Naughty Dog celebrated both by sharing fan photo captures and via a blog post where developers reminisced on their experiences creating and releasing the game. It was all rather lovely, but fans were hoping for a The Last of Us Part III announcement, or even a native PlayStation 5 version of The Last of Us Part II - something that seemed somewhat likely after PlayStation posted a video of Part II Ellie playing ‘Happy Birthday’ on the guitar earlier that day with a seemingly updated UI. Part II turns three years old on 19 June, hold onto your hope. We may not have received any of those things but just one day later, a chilling real-life The Last of Us horror experience has been announced.

Take a look at the trailer for The Last of Us’ Halloween Horror Nights experience below.

Universal Studios have teamed up with PlayStation and Naughty Dog to create a brand new experience as a part of this year’s Halloween Horror Nights event. If you’re someone who enjoys being spooked in scare mazes, this will be right up your alley, as the experience promises to include raiders, runners, clickers and more as you pass through iconic game locations.

Theme park guests will be able to ‘follow in the footsteps’ of Joel and Ellie. Locations represented in the experience include The Hotel Grand and the Boston Quarantine Zone. The Hotel Grand is, of course, the location of that infamous terrifying basement sequence. Could we be about to experience that in real life? The thought sent a shiver down my spine.

Speaking of the experience, Naughty Dog co-president and The Last of Us creator Neil Druckmann said (via IGN), “As a massive fan – and frequent attendee – of Halloween Horror Nights, we are honored to have The Last of Us included in this year’s lineup. It has been an incredible thrill for us at Naughty Dog to collaborate with Universal, bringing the world of the game to life, focusing on even the tiniest details that our fans know so well.”

The experience is seemingly based on the video game, more so than the TV show, and it’ll run from 1 September to 31 October at Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando. Tickets are available now and further details on the experiences are due out soon.
