Animal Crossing: New Horizons released for Nintendo Switch today. No doubt a lot of you are already busy naming your islands and starting your brand-new virtual life because... well, what else are we all supposed to be doing at the moment? There's no doubt in my mind that Nintendo's newest game is going to be a massive hit, and that's brilliant! It's an excellent game, and just the kind of title I think we all need right now.

Maybe you didn't pre-order New Horizons, but all the hype around the game has you seriously tempted to pick it up now? No judgment, I've seen that in at least three of my colleagues today. We also know that you might be looking to save as much money as possible at the moment, and can't quite justify a new Switch game as an "essential" item.

That's fine too - because we've had a quick peek around the internet to try and find some of the cheapest places (in the UK) to grab the game and start your new island life. Just to warn you now, you're not gonna be able to grab it for a tenner or anything like that... but there are few ways you'll be able to save at least few quid, which should make getting the game an easier selling point to your partner/parents/whoever.

Let's start with physical copies of the game, if downloads aren't your thing. Both Simplygames and ShopTo are, at the time of writing, selling New Horizons for £43.88 and £42.85 respectively. The former does apparently come with an Isabelle keyring, so it's up to you whether or not that's worth the extra pound.

Elsewhere, Amazon, Argos, and Currys are all selling the game for £45. If you don't want to wait for delivery you could chance popping into one of those three stores to see if they have the game in stock, but in store prices can vary. Plus, you know, I'd stay indoors and self-isolate wherever possible right now, so if you can get the game delivered, get it delivered.

Having said that, Amazon recently suspended shipping on all non-essential items... so plan accordingly.

Honestly? Right now I'd probably go for getting a download code. Not only is it safer right now, you're also more likely to get it quicker. Beyond that, the cheapest option for New Horizons in the UK by far is digital. ShopTo is selling download codes for £39.85 (at the time of writing), which is the best price I can find for the game.

However, if you wanted to get the game via a cashback website like Topcashback, it is possible to get a code for £38.92 . CDkeys.com is selling a digital copy of New Horizons for £40.99, which would be knocked down by a few quid after cashback. If you don't want to use that kind of thing though, ShopTo remains your best bet.

Whatever you decide, make sure you have a blast with Animal Crossing: New Horizons. It's a properly lovely game, and it is worth every penny if you need something to lose yourself in for the coming months.
