A gamer was unexpectedly reunited with his Game Boy Color recently, when he stumbled across a photo of the battered old handheld online.
While scrolling through Reddit, a user by the name of jdt527 was hit squarely in the face with a blast of nostalgia upon discovering a very familiar looking piece of hardware.
"I don't know if he'll see this but I hope that Josh Taylor would love to know that his Gameboy Color still gets played too this day," read a post from Simubaya. The post was accompanied by a picture of a slightly battered light blue Game Boy Color, with the name "Josh Taylor" scribbled in cursive on the back just above the battery pack.
"Holy shit that's mine," jdt527 commented. "We learned cursive my 3rd grade year I think and and then in 4th is when I switched to the advanced! How can I prove this to you?"
Obviously anyone on Reddit could claim to be the Josh Taylor who owned the Game Boy Color. It'd be a weird and utterly pointless thing to do, but the internet is filled with weird people who love doing pointless things. jdt527 was determined to prove themselves, though.
He vowed to call his mum and get photo evidence of himself as kid with the Game Boy from the picture, and even provided an old photo of his signature which matches the "Josh Taylor" scrawled on the handheld. Oh, and he promised to fight to the death with anyone else who tried to come forward.
It remains to be seen if jdt527 is 100% Josh Taylor, but I'm gonna go out on a limb and say they are one and the same. At least I really hope they are. A kid being reunited with his console after decades apart is just so damn pure, and I love to see it.
