Grandma Accidentally Receives Six Nintendo Switches, Target Lets Her Keep Them All

Grandma Accidentally Receives Six Nintendo Switches, Target Lets Her Keep Them All

"I feel like I'm dreaming. I wasn't looking for anything."

Earlier this week, a 68-year-old woman in Phoenix, Arizona, received a parcel containing six OLED Switch consoles. Curiously, she hadn't ordered these consoles and didn't even know what they were until she looked them up on the Internet. It turned out there was a mistake with UPS and Target, and rather than taking the Switches back, the retailer has gifted them to her. What a wholesome outcome for this mixup.

Excuse me, I'm just listening out for the doorbell in case Target wants to give me six Dyson Airwraps. Anyway, while you're here, the story from 12 News goes that Deborah Lewis opened the box because she often gets deliveries for medical supplies. Accordingly, she and her caregiver were confused to find video game consoles in there instead. "I thought well this would be great to give to my grandkids but that not the right thing, that's why we worked it out and are trying to find out," explained Lewis in an interview with 12 News.

The mixup arose out of the fact that the box had two shipping labels, one for Lewis' house and one for the nearby Target store. The delivery driver chose to take them to the house, and that checks out. The holidays are approaching rapidly so they must have assumed that this was a present and put the box in the pile with the parcels that were being sent out to customers.

Well, enough proselytising from me. To thank Lewis for her transparency and her efforts to return the consoles, Target has gifted her the six Switches. "On behalf of Target and your local Target store right up the street, we want to give these to you to give to your grandchildren or whoever you want," said one of the employees who arrived at her house to "pick up" the parcel.

"Wait, are you serious?” said Lewis. “You have no idea what I've been going through. This is unbelievable... You're going to make me cry. You stop that girlfriend. It's just so amazing. I've never had anything like this happen. I feel like I'm dreaming. I wasn't looking for anything." And, it'll be a Christmas to remember for her eight grandchildren who live in Chicago, as she's sending them the consoles. So sweet.
