TikTok And Adult Entertainment Star Sued By Nintendo

DigitalPrincxss, formerly known as PokePrincxx has had to ditch her longstanding username after Nintendo sent her a cease and desist letter. The TikTok star and merchandise producer got into legal trouble once she had declared herself an adult entertainer and sold Pokémon related merchandise.

DigitalPrincxss who has found success on platforms like Twitch, TikTok, and OnlyFans has had to drop the name because Nintendo and The Pokémon Company feared that fans would believe they were officially affiliated with the entertainer. As they are family-friendly and she focuses on a more adult audience, they sued to make sure she changed names and assured fans that she was in no way associated with Pokémon officially.

In a YouTube video explaining what had happened in the build-up to the cease and desist, the entertainer said she had the username for years. It was given to her by a friend and then it stuck because she loved Pokémon and Nintendo properties - even getting tattoos of many Pokémon.

After gaining popularity she trademarked the name PokePrincxss and begun selling merchandise, with the belief that if the fan-made artwork was far enough away from the original, it was fair use. Sadly, this is not the case, and Nintendo has forced her to surrender the username, stop selling her previous merchandise, and give over profits from her merchanise to Nintendo too.

All is not lost, however, DigitalPrincxss announced her rebrand to fans that have been very supportive of the change, and she's even got a commemorative tee for her audience to buy which mourns the loss of the old username. In the video she made to inform people about why the change has happened, she owns up to her making mistakes and making assumptions about how trademark works and will move on with learnings from the experience.
