One-Punch Man is, in my humble opinion, one of the greatest manga and anime characters. Now, admittedly, I haven’t seen or read a huge amount of either, but I do love the whole premise of One-Punch Man’s Saitama. He’s literally unbeatable and it’s hilarious. The man trained so hard (100 push ups, 100 sit ups, 100 squats and a 10km run every day) that his hair fell out and he can beat anybody with, you guessed it, a single punch. Absolute unit.
While many might raise their eyebrows at the thought of a live-action adaptation of One-Punch Man - and honestly, I don’t blame them - it’s at least settling to know that somebody with a bit of gravitas is going to be behind the wheel.

In a new report from Deadline, it’s been revealed that Justin Lin, who most recently departed from his involvement with Fast X of the Fast & Furious franchise, will be directing the One-Punch Man live-action movie. Alongside Lin will reportedly be Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinker attached to write the film. If those names ring a bell, perhaps you’re familiar with Jumanji: The Next Level and Venom?

Also in the report is the news that Sony - who are handling the movie - are “bullish” about turning One-Punch Man into a franchise, in an attempt to replicate the success the character has seen in the manga and anime worlds.
As I said, Lin recently departed directorial duties on Fast X, apparently due to a bust up with star Vin Diesel. What’s interesting is that he has stayed on with the film in a producer role, so perhaps he left in order to focus his attention on One-Punch Man. Who’s to say for sure?
Interestingly enough, Vin Diesel recently announced his own involvement with a film franchise being created from a video game. Taking to Instagram, the star said that ARK: Survival Evolved will be getting a movie that he’s had involvement in. He’s also going to star in the ARK 2 game.
As it stands, One-Punch Man has no release date, but we’ll be sure to keep you in the loop as and when new developments happen.
