Sadly, Oscar-winning Hollywood star, Alan Arkin has passed away at the age of 89 following heart complications.
Alan Arkin’s acting career began over six decades ago in 1957 as an uncredited role in a movie called Calypso Heat Wave. In the many years that followed, Arkin would star in blockbuster movies including Edward Scissorhands, So I Married an Axe Murderer, Get Smart, Argo, Dumbo (2019) as well as hit American sitcom, Seinfeld, and more. His last credited role was in the animated movie from Illumination Entertainment, Minion’s: The Rise of Gru.

“Our father was a uniquely talented force of nature, both as an artist and a man. A loving husband, father, grand and great grandfather, he was adored and will be deeply missed,” said his sons, Adam, Matthew and Anthonoy in a statement provided to People.
“Such a wonderful, original voice for comedy. And on the few occasions, I was in his presence, a kind and generous soul,” tweeted Arkin’s Seinfeld co-star, Jason Alexander. “I learned so much from watching him. And the laughs I got from his glorious work seem endless. May he rest well.”

Throughout his illustrious career, Alan Arkin was not shy of winning prestigious awards including a Golden Globe for Best Actor in Enter Laughing (1963), a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture, as well as BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for Little Miss Sunshine (2007), a movie that he would also claim an Academy Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role.
Alan Arkin will no doubt leave a void for all those that he’s inspired and admired during the life that he obviously lived to the fullest. Our thoughts go out to Arkin’s family and friends at this difficult time - may they rest in peace.
