Video Shows Thief Stealing Kids' PS5 From Doorstep And Driving Away

Reddit users have been showing their support for the victim, whose package was left outside, despite requiring a signature.

A Reddit post has pictured an alleged thief stealing a PlayStation 5 from someone’s doorstep, which had been bought for her children.

Reddit user Swazi posted the security camera footage on the r/iamatotalpieceofsh*t subreddit, which they captioned: “This piece of sh*t stole my cousin’s PS5 she got for her kids”. The footage, which was captured on 16 November, shows the alleged thief getting out of their car, which they parked outside the victim’s house, before taking the package from the doorstep and immediately driving away.

According to Swazi, the package was supposed to require a signature, but the delivery driver had left it outside without taking one, leaving it susceptible to being stolen. The user claims that although the crime had been reported to the police, the police “didn’t care”.

Other Reddit users have been showing their support in the comments: “Had this happen once. Two detectives brought my package back to me a couple days later (they caught her taking packages from other houses in a stolen car. I had already gotten a refund and assumed it got delivered to the wrong address),” commented Briguy_87. “I opened the package to show them what she committed a felony for. It was a 40lb bag of cat litter and 6 gatorades…”

“When I see videos like this, I always like to imagine that they’re stealing something utterly useless to the wrong person or some relatively worthless item,” added TheWalkingDead91. “So reading that this was something actually valuable just makes me hope that b*tch steps on some legos with her bare feet this Christmas.”

PS5s are still notoriously difficult to get hold of, thanks to a combination of stock issues and scalpers, meaning for the victim, it might not be as easy as just getting a refund and ordering a new one online. There’s been no word in the replies to the post whether or not the victim has been able to get her money back, or a replacement console, which would undoubtably be the better solution so close to Christmas. We hope that everything works out for the victim and her family.
