The esports' scene is showing absolutely no signs of slowing down, and as interest in competitive gaming continues to swell, more and more businesses are craning their necks to see how they might get a slice of the action. The most recent example? The announcement of a nine-story hotel set to open in Osaka's Nipponbashi district. and entirely dedicated to the noble art of esports.

In English, the new hotel is called the Esports Hotel E-Zone Cyberspace. In addition to sounding like a great prog-rock album from the 80's, Fashion Snap reports the first three floors of the building, which is set to open its doors in April and is the first of its kind in Japan, will boast over seventy hi-spec, streaming-ready gaming PCs. That's rather a lot.

As for the rest of the floors, the basement will feature shower facilities (I'll resist the urge to make a joke here but if you've ever been to a big gaming event, you know), and the remaining floors will be dedicated to fairly stripped back, no-frills sleeping quarters. Basically then, it sounds like less of a luxury stay and more a place to play video games for hours on end until you collapse on a hostel-quality mattress. Not the vacation for me, but it'll no doubt have its fans.

As you can see above and below, the mock-up images can provide you with a rough idea of what to expect - though be aware these will be subject to change.

Those hoping to combine the gaming experience with a better-quality stay will be in luck, however. The seventh floor of the hotel will come with much fancier suites, complete with their own in-room gaming PC so that you don't have to deal with any of the riff-raff downstairs that may or may not have neglected to visit the basement since they arrived five days earlier.

E-Zone

I'd imagine that the company behind the hotel are hoping to eventually hold their own esports competitions and events at the hotel, but this has yet to be confirmed, Given that spectating is a huge part of esports, I'd be very surprised if this wasn't accommodated in some way.

Pricing and room rates for the Esports Hotel E-Zone Cyberspace have yet to be officially announced, but given that it will be the first of its kind and offers access to so many high-end PCs, I'd advise anyone interesting in visiting Osaka in April next year for the grand opening start saving their pennies now.
