Age Of Empires 4 was first announced back in 2017, to much excitement. A lot of things have happened since then. The UK has had two prime ministers. Toy Story 4 hit cinemas. We had that great Summer where we were all convinced England was actually going to win the World Cup (they did not).
Wild times, all. But through it all, we've still yet to see any actual gameplay from Age of Empires 4. It would seem that changes today. As originally promised back in August, Microsoft will finally be showing off the long-awaited historical real-time strategy sequel at X019 and we cannot wait.
Over summer, Xbox marketing head Aaron Greenberg told German publication GameStar (as translated by Gamingbolt) that Age of Empires 4 would be revealed during Microsoft's massive X019 event in London, which starts today (November 14).

As if to remind us of this fact, Greenberg tweeted a not-so-cryptic tease last night that can only mean we're still on track for a look at the game in action. Check it out below.
It's unclear exactly when we can expect Age of Empires 4 to be shown off during X019, but the most likely bet is that it'll arrive during the Inside Xbox Live show. You can catch that at 8pm (UK time) tonight. Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition also launches today, so the timing certainly works out.

While we don't know much about Age Of Empires 4 yet, we do know plenty about Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition. The remaster comes with additional campaign missions, new graphics that support up to 4K resolution, and Xbox Live support for multiplayer, including all-new achievements.
You can also expect various quality-of-life upgrades, and cross play support between Steam and the Windows 10 store. This is a good day to be an AoE fan, for sure.
Microsoft previously promised that X019 is going to the biggest one yet. Billed as a "global celebration of Xbox", we don't know exactly what to expect from the show, but we imagine it'll be one Xbox fans want to keep their eyes on, with plenty of announcements.
