An Underrated Assassin's Creed Game Is Free On PC This Week

The Epic Games Store continues to dish out free games like my old nan used to hand out incredibly stodgy roast dinners: two a week, and with no signs of slowing down. Yes, Epic is doing an admirable job of continuing to deliver some surprisingly robust freebies to players. This week, for example, you can get your hands on popular medieval RPG Kingdom Come: Deliverance and beat 'em up/turn-based strategy Aztez.

Two very different games there, but both certainly worth your time. Especially what with them being free to download and play, and all. Still, if historically accurate open world adventures and charming indie titles aren't your cup of tea, perhaps next week's offerings will be more your speed?

From February 21st to February 28th - that's this Friday to the following Friday - you'll be able to get your hands on two more great titles. Assassin's Creed Syndicate is the real headline act here, but Faeria is also on offer and definitely worth your time. Again, it's free. You have nothing to lose but your time. Although to be fair, some say time is the most valuable commodity.

Assassin's Creed Syndicate was first released back in 2015, and took the popular Ubisoft franchise to the UK for an adventure set in Victorian-era London. It didn't review all that well at the time... but most fans seem to remember it fondly. It's also notable for being the last "traditional" Assassin's Creed game before Origins completely shook up the formula. Releasing a formulaic open world game in the same year The Witcher 3 came out clearly had a bit of an impact on Ubisoft.

If you consider yourself something of an Assassin's Creed purist then, you'll want to check Syndicate out. Sure, it has a lot of the same problems as all of the previous games in the franchise suffered from up till that point, but it's also a gorgeous title with a beautifully-realised world to explore. You do a lot worse for £0, that's for sure.

Faeria, meanwhile, is one for any card game buffs out there. Set on a "unique living board," developer Abrakam SA describes it as "The only card game where you can gain all 300 cards in less than 50 hours". Colour me intrigued. I've just had a look on Steam and Faeria is currently £18.99, so if you get it via Epic next week you're laughing.
