Ubisoft has been doing a pretty awesome job of keeping people entertained throughout lockdown. The company has offered a steady stream of free games and trials, including Rayman Legends, Assassin's Creed II, and Child Of Light. Now, Ubisoft wants to help keep the young'uns entertained and educated. That's why it's offering the Discovery Tour modes from Assassin's Creed Origins and Odyssey for free.
For those of you that aren't aware, Discovery Tour is a really rather excellent mode that was first introduced in Assassin's Creed Odyssey. Since Ubisoft had gone to all the trouble of building a historically accurate recreation of Ancient Egypt, it figured maybe it should try and use it to teach people a thing or two.
That's how Discovery Tour was born. It exists outside of the game itself, so there's no story, combat, or brutal quests for revenge. Instead, you're simply free to explore the open world in its entirety and learn all kinds of facts about various monuments and sites of historical importance as you go. After proving such a hit in Origins, it returned for Odyssey's massive version of Ancient Greece.

"The idea is to be able to share the entire world, without heavy narrative or fight controls that would be a barrier," creative director Jean Guesdon said of the Origins Discovery Tour in its launch trailer. "We'll just let you enjoy the entire world, but keeping the interactivity of the game, which is, I think, very important for such a tool."
Discovery Tour is quite honestly the kind of thing I wish I'd had in school as a kid, because it's a super engaging way to learn about history - and you do genuinely learn some stuff. It doesn't matter how old you are, but right now it could clearly be used as a vital resource for any tired parents who might have hit a wall trying to school their kids from home. Plonk 'em down in front of Assassin's Creed and let Ubisoft do the teaching instead.
The mode obviously comes free with either Origins or Odyssey, but it's also possible to buy them separately. However, if you head to Uplay now, you'll get them for absolutely nothing. Just be aware that they're pretty hefty downloads, clocking in at 42GB and 50GB respectively.

Still, if you've got the room on your PC, you really can't go wrong. Both Discovery Tours are free to download until May 21st, so get them while they're hot. Hot with knowledge.
