The launch of Battlefield 2042 is creeping ever closer and fans are frothing with excitement. Seriously. Here's a handkerchief. Today, we've got the system requirements for the first-person shooter and they're not looking too shabby.

Battlefield 2042 takes a leaf out of Battlefield 3's book with its futuristic and dystopian setting. Devastating climate change forces populations to seek refuge in the dwindling number of countries that will take these "No-Pats," and a Kessler syndrome event causes the orbiting satellites around Earth to plummet into the atmosphere. The aftermath causes a global blackout where only the United States and Russia have survived the impact. While there is no single-player campaign, the multiplayer modes will deliver the story through updates to the Battle Pass and new specialists will be introduced post-launch. So, with all of this to look forward to, it's vital to know whether or not your PC will be able to run the anticipated game.

For your entertainment, here is a compilation of the most magnificent wins and the most excruciating of fails from across the Battlefield series.

Here goes. These are the minimum system requirements to play Battlefield 2042:

  • Operating System: 64-bit Windows 10
  • Processor (AMD): AMD FX-8350
  • Processor (Intel): Core i5 6600K
  • Memory: 8GB
  • Video Memory: 4GB
  • Graphics Card (AMD): AMD Radeon RX 560
  • Graphics Card (NVIDIA): Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti
  • DirectX: 12
  • Online Connection Requirements: 512 KBPS or faster

That... doesn't fill me with dread that my PC will melt into a plasticky puddle if it's asked to take on the new game. Sure, it's not going to be winning any beauty pageants and Battlefield 2042 won't reach that super smooth 120 frames per second with a build like this. Yet, it will be playable, which I've heard is one of the more important features of a game.

On the other hand, if you're wanting a real bang for your buck, you'll need to meet or surpass the recommended system requirements. Take a gander:

  • Operating System: 64-bit Windows 10
  • Processor (AMD): AMD Ryzen 5 3600
  • Processor (Intel): Intel Core i7 4790
  • Memory: 16GB
  • Video Memory: 8GB
  • Graphics Card (AMD): AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT
  • Graphics Card (NVIDIA): Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060
  • DirectX: 12
  • Online Connection Requirements: 512 KBPS or faster

If all this talk of battles and fields has your head spinning on your shoulders, never fear. Battlefield 1 and Battlefield V are available for free through Amazon Prime Gaming until September 1st. And, once you bag the code, it's yours forever even if you cancel your Amazon Prime membership.
