Reach for the stars.

We finally know exactly when we can expect Halo: Reach to join Halo: The Master Chief Collection on Xbox One and PC. Microsoft and 343 Industries confirmed during the X019 Inside Xbox Live Stream that the much-loved Halo title will be arriving on December 3rd. A wonderful Christmas treat, I'm sure we can all agree.

343 Industries Community Director Brian Jarrard took to the stage to reveal the news alongside a gorgeous launch trailer for the game, which you can see below. This long-awaited release marks the first game in The Master Chief Collection to hit PC. It'll eventually be followed the first three Halo games, as well as Halo 4 and the campaign from ODST.

It was previously confirmed that this staggered release schedule for the PC version of the collection is to ensure each game is brought to PC in just the right way, with plenty of juicy specific features like FOV sliders, 4K resolution, adjustable framerates, remappable keys, and more. For now though, let's focus on Reach.

Jarrard and the rest of the team at 343 have been working on getting Reach ready for PC since early this year, running various closed tests over Summer to make sure that the game is ship shape and shiny. The game has been fully optimised for PC, and will even run beautifully on lower-end machines. Yes, even your potato PC will be able to sample the joys of Reach. Rejoice.

Suffice to say, the team's hard work has paid off. Halo fans everywhere were incredibly excited at the news that The Master Chief Collection would be coming to PC when it was announced back in March this year, of course. The reveal that Reach would be coming to PC for the first time though? That was very much the icing on the cake. The promise of fluid 60 fps and 4K action was the cherry on top of that delicious icing.

Halo: Reach is available to pre-install on Xbox Game Pass, or by pre-ordering via the Microsoft Store or Steam now. It'll also be available for individual purchase on PC if you really can't be bothered with any of the other games in the collection. That would very much be your loss, of course.
