We live in strange times, my friends. Strange times indeed. Freddo prices are at an all-time high, Greggs make (delicious) vegan steak bakes, and Valve is developing video games again. The iconic studio with a well-documented fear of the number three took us all by surprise towards the end of last year, when they announced Half-Life: Alyx; a flagship VR title, and the first new entry in the Half-Life series in well over a decade.
According to a new report, it seems that the overwhelmingly positive reaction to the new Half-Life has inspired Valve to get moving on bringing back more old IPs. Specifically, it sounds as if the studio is finally dusting off Left 4 Dead 3, which allegedly began development around 2011/2012 before being cancelled in early 2017.

This comes from YouTube channel and fansite Valve News Network, who have a pretty solid track record when it comes to reporting on all things Valve. As the name implies, to be fair. VNN reports that Valve was so surprised by the amount of hype for Half-Life: Alyx that the studio is keen to get out more VR titles in order to satisfy all the customers who picked up Valve Index VR headsets specifically to play the upcoming game.

"There is a high chance [Valve] will be pulling Left 4 Dead 3 out again," VNN explained. "And they may already have done that."

The video continues: "I have word that there were a few major meetings that took place almost immediately after the trailer for Half-Life: Alyx dropped that essentially caused everybody internally at Valve to change everything about their future plans for virtual reality, public communication, and game development in general."
This is all completely unconfirmed of course, so I'd take it with a pinch of salt. However, it makes absolute sense for Valve to revive Left 4 Dead 3 as a VR game, especially given the reaction to the Half-Life: Alyx reveal. Not long after the game's first trailer dropped, the Valve Index headset actually sold out in the US and Canada, according to a report from RoadToVR last year.
Clearly then, there's a very real hunger for more fully-fledged VR titles from Valve. And of course, there's no better way to do that than by giving the people what they've been asking for (for literal years, now). More Portal. More Half-Life. More Left 4 Dead.
