Let A Horrible Goose Absolutely Ruin Your Favourite PC Games

“i cause problems on purpose”

We all liked Untitled Goose Game, right? Australian indie studio House House's hit of last year cast players as a horrible goose and tasked them with causing all manner of mischief across a quaint little village. It was a riot of colour, chaos, and honks. We liked it enough to name it our fourth-best game of 2019. If you've not played it yet, do, please, give it a whirl.

This new Desktop Goose, however, I'm not so sure about. But I cannot deny that VR dev Samperson's devious program for Windows PCs has tickled me this morning, hence why it's got these words about it, on this webpage, right here.

Desktop Goose is, basically, a version of Untitled Goose Game's horrible goose (or maybe, better still, a tribute to it), but let loose on your PC. For a pay-what-you-want fee on itch.io, Desktop Goose will completely ruin your day, whether you're writing articles, arranging spreadsheets, or trying to get through a first-person shooter.

The description of the program reads as follows, on itch.io:

---

HONK HONK, HEAR YE. I have created a goose for your desktop.

He'll nab your mouse, track mud on your screen... leave you a message, deliver you memes?

Play video games with a desktop buddy who will attack you if you poke him.

Fill out spreadsheets while your screen fills up with instances of Goose Notepad.

---

Look, it's probably best if you just watch this video...

Samperson, real name Sam Chiet, writes of Desktop Goose on its YouTube trailer post: "This was an utterly absurd project that was created over the past couple of days. Bless my patrons, bless my discord for helping test."

And absurd really is what it is. Pointless? I mean, kinda? But why not inject a little mayhem into your otherwise grey day of grind and misery?

The goose - which isn't House House's goose, just so we're clear on that - will grab your mouse cursor and drag it off screen; get angry when you close the memes he/she delivers; leave muddy footprints, like, everywhere; and generally, as the trailer states, be an asshole.

It's a laugh, ain't it? And right now, we all need a laugh. Bloody hell, how we so desperately, achingly, need a laugh. Ha. Haha. Honk.
