In an era where sex mods are prevalent for the PC releases of any game featuring attractive characters, it's not surprising to see Mass Effect: Legendary Edition receiving a mod that gives one of its numerous alien races additional never-before-seen nipples. Although, it might not be a race that many would think to sexualise.
The gelatinous Hanar are the ones receiving this attention thanks to modder Grixdale, with a mod aptly titled Sexier Hanar. But before we judge Grixdale too harshly for any fetishistic fantasies they may or may not possess, it's worth noting that this mod was made as a sort of prank towards people who gave Grixdale backlash for their mod which removed nipple outlines and pantie lines from the female Shepard avatar. Some say revenge is a dish best served cold, others say it's best served by slapping nipples on an alien jellyfish.

This wouldn't be the first time Mass Effect has sparked some controversy regarding its nudity, albeit this situation is much lighter. All the way back in 2007, Fox News slammed the original release for featuring full graphic nudity, a criticism that anyone who had played the game knew was unfounded. In comparison to 2021's modding scene, Mass Effect's original sex scenes couldn't appear tamer.
Mass Effect: Legendary Edition includes the original trilogy, alongside its DLC, and numerous enhancements such as gameplay tweaks (most notably in the first instalment), higher frame-rates, altered visuals and lighting, updated character creator options, and more.
Developer BioWare is currently working on the next Mass Effect entry, which was revealed back in December 2020 during The Game Awards. Very little is currently known about the title outside of its pre-rendered trailer, although we can assume that it will be releasing on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, and is likely to be somewhat of a return to the series' roots after the mixed reception of 2017's Mass Effect: Andromeda.
