I honestly can't get over the beauty and majesty of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020. If you'd told me even a year ago that a flight simulator would be one of my most-anticipated games of the year, I'd probably have laughed in your face. But a steady stream of gorgeous screenshots and the fact that getting on a plane to go anywhere is the stuff of fantasy right now has me convinced: I need this game in my life.
A number of lucky players have actually had a chance to jump into the virtual cockpit early and test out the game as part of a playable Alpha build. What really amazes me is that even in this stage of development, where there's still work to be done, the game looks stunning.

Just last week I fawned over the beautiful volumetric clouds, and a little bit before that I got excited about the level of detail inside and out of the planes. Now, as if to hammer the point home, Redditor Utherellus (via PCGamesN) has put together a gallery comparing screenshots of the game to their real-life counterparts.
As you'd expect, telling them apart is nearly impossible. In fact, if it weren't for the watermarks of player names over the in-game shots, I don't think you could tell at all. Check it out for yourself below and prepare to be amazed.

Let's also not forget that this footage is from an alpha. On the slim chance that you've decided you don't like the way the game looks right now, there's still time to polish up what is already an immaculate-looking piece of work.
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 doesn't have a set release date just yet, but the expectation at the moment is that it'll be available for Xbox One and PC by the end of the year. Based on everything we've seen and heard so far, this is genuinely shaping up to be the most detailed and accurate simulation game to date.
