IDK about you, but something that has never, ever crossed my mind while playing one of several Mortal Kombat games over the years is: hey, wouldn't it be rad if I was controlling my fighter from a first-person perspective. Because, no, it wouldn't be. It'd make me sick. Obviously.

But as is always the way with modders, someone's come up with a solution for a problem that never existed. And now you can enjoy Mortal Kombat 11 from a first-person perspective. Get over here? You absolutely will do - and probably leave your lunch behind.

As Gamerant reports, modder Ermaccer has cast some decidedly wicked magic over Mortal Kombat 11, and made the one-on-one gore-fest playable from behind the eyes of your chosen competitor. Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Sonya Blade: they can all be controlled like you're in their shoes. Only, through a PC still, obviously. Be really weird, and not a little dangerous, otherwise.

All of your average punches and kicks are now watchable from an all-new view, blood splatters included. But no doubt you're hoping that the mod extends to the franchise's infamous fatalities, right? Because what could be better, really, in the world, right now, than having your avatar's head torn off, from their perspective?

Ermaccer shows off the mod in a YouTube video, where Scorpion's trademark hook comes out to play. No fatalities on show, and judging by the side-on view of Noob Saibot's skull being crunched, it might be that they're not possible in first-person - more cutscene than gameplay, as they are. Sadly? Maybe.

As you can see in the video, Ermaccer uses other cameras to show Mortal Kombat 11 off in different ways. But it's the first-person camera that's really caught our attention. Now, to make the whole game fully playable from such an angle... Right? Barf.

Gamerant adds that while the mod is fun for solo play, players are warned against using it for online bouts, as its gameplay-altering nature could lead to bans. If you want to try it, the mod is available here.
