Rare 'Cyberpunk 2077' Graphics Card Being Sold For Eye-Watering Amounts Online

Not terribly breathtaking.

Back in February, we reported on collaboration between NVIDIA and CD Projekt RED to craft a limited number of gorgeous Cyberpunk 2077-themed Geforce GPUs. Adorned with that striking Cyberpunk yellow and fetching logo, the GeForce RTX 2080 would have been a wonderful addition to any collector's library. The only catch? They weren't actually for sale.

"We've made just 200 of these Cyberpunk 2077 GPUs, they won't be sold, but you can potentially win one," Geforce explained in a blog post at the time. "Each has a custom AL5052 aluminum shroud, with Cyberpunk 2077's signature yellow styling, and powerful GeForce RTX 2080 Ti hardware underneath. And of course, it comes gift wrapped in a special edition Cyberpunk 2077 box, perfect for a collector's shelf."

While 200 had been made, only 77 were given away as part of the competition on Twitter that received an amazing 130,000 entries. I assume that the other 123 cards went to people at NVIDIA, CD Projekt RED, and potentially a handful of influencers or press?

I don't know for sure, but either way, there are very few in the wild. It's an incredibly rare piece of kit then, I probably don't need to explain that to you. You also probably won't be too shocked to learn that a few of these cards have now appeared for sale on ebay, and they're going for ridiculous amounts of money.

As reported by PC Gamer, a number of Cyberpunk 2080 Ti's have already been shifted for between £2,200 to £5,000 online. For comparison, the RTX 2080 Ti Founders Edition that this special model is based on is worth around £1,149. People are forking out a hell of a lot extra just to get that sweet Cyberpunk branding.

As you'd expect, the unopened cards that remain in their shiny collector's edition packaging are fetching the highest prices. Those that couldn't help but peer into the depths of the box to take a look at the beauty within have had to settle for several grand less than they might have got. Not that a couple of grand for winning a competition on Twitter is to be sniffed at, mind.

The good news is that not everybody immediately bunged theirs online to make a quick bob. NVIDIA recently took to Twitter to share a few images of proud fans who've already displayed their new hardware. I'd love to be happy for them, but I'm too sick with jealously. f anyone fancies lending me £3,000, there are still a few floating around on ebay. I see it as a sound investment.
