If you're into Minecraft or Harry Potter (or both!) odds are that you're already familiar with The Floo Network. This incredible team of Minecraft modders have spent the last four years building a fully-fledged Harry Potter RPG inside the survival sandbox. The project finally went into alpha a few months back, and is now ready for a full release.

You can check out the trailer for yourself below (or via this link right here). As someone who re-reads and re-watches the Harry Potter books and films at least once a year (I don't count those awful Fantastic Beasts movies), this project is basically everything I've wanted from a Harry Potter video game since I knew how to read.

It would have been amazing enough if the team had simply recreated the world of Harry Potter itself, because it is a truly stunning effort in that respect. Everything you'd want to see from the world of muggles and magic is present in a seamless open map. Privet Drive, Hogwarts, Hogsmede - even the Ministry of Magic and the Burrow. It's all here, and it's all beautiful.

But as we know, this isn't just a recreation of the world of Harry Potter. It's a complete video game experience that lets you live your life as a witch or wizard in the way you'd dreamed of since you were a wide-eyed kid waiting by the window for your Hogwarts letter to come. We all did it, right?

You'll be able to attend classes and learn new spells as you explore Hogwarts and its myriad of secrets. There are puzzles to solve, evil to fight, and all kinds of side activities to get involved in. You can even play Quidditch, which tops this whole package off beautifully in my opinion.

The Floo Network

The fact that you can download and play this mod for free is absolutely astounding to be honest, since it's basically an entirely new game that The Floo Network have worked their butts off to bring us. I strongly urge you to swing by their Patreon and chuck them a few quid if you can. After that, you can go right ahead and download it for Java Minecraft 1.13.2.

It's certainly more than enough to keep fans ticking over while we wait for the official open world Harry Potter game that's rumoured to be coming from Warner Bros. The titles was apparently supposed to be announced during E3 2020, so keep your eyes on WB. Games over the summer for news on that one.
