The Steam Summer Sale 2020 Has Started With Some Ludicrous Deals

The Steam Summer Sale 2020 is finally live and ready to reduce the contents of your wallet to dust.

The annual event kicked off last night and runs all the way through till July 9th, so you've bags of time to find the right deals for you. At which point you can spend a few days arguing over whether or not you really "need" x game, before ultimately buying it, as you were always going to. It's the Steam way.

In addition to the usual raft of discounts on plenty of AAA and indie games, Valve is offering an extra £5 off when you spend £30. On top of that, any purchase can earn you points, which can then be exchanged for stickers, avatars, and other such goodies. Lots of incentives to spend, basically.

But just what will you be spending your money on this year? There are some solid contenders, if you'll allow me to offer some recommendations. Borderlands 3 is definitely worth a look if you haven't already checked out the most recent entry in the popular loot 'em up franchise. You can nab it for £25, which is half the usual price.

Meanwhile, Dragon Quest Builders 2 is 40% off at £29.99. Even if Dragon Quest isn't your cup of tea, this blend of RPG and Minecraft survival sim is a genuine treat to play.

If you're after something a little more challenging, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is £32.43. Alternatively, you can't go wrong with Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (£27.49), Planet Zoo (£24.49), or Assassin's Creed Odyssey (£16.49)

If you're not looking to spend that much, there are more than a few great games that you can currently get for less than a tenner. Stardew Valley is easily one of the best farming sim games out there, and you'll struggle to put it down once you've started it. For £6.59, it's yours. You can also get Resident Evil VII: Biohazard for the same price, although it's worth noting those are very different games.

A few others that you might want to consider: Batman: Arkham Knight is £3.99. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is £7.49. Grand Theft Auto V, on the slim chance you're one of the few people that doesn't already own it, is £12.49.

You can check out the full list of deals right here on Steam. Spend wisely, and have fun!
