The greatest buff of all time?

It's pretty warm right now, isn't it? Too warm for clothes sometimes, I reckon. Which is the perfect segue into this story about a World of Warcraft paladin who fights in the buff.

"Today we are going to be obliterating horde in a fashionable way, without wearing armour!" says Rextroy in the video description. "All we need with us is our dear Heart of Azeroth necklace."

As spotted by PC Gamer, WoW YouTuber Rextroy has developed a new combat strategy that permits them to take down max-level players with a single shot... even though their character is running around with little more than their pants and a smile.

Your armour makes a massive difference to your hardiness in World of Warcraft, offering all kinds of perks and buffing stats like your intellect, agility, and strength. Without these additions, Rextroy should, theoretically, be leaving themselves incredibly vulnerable, but thanks to their unique combat strat and Blizzard's own scaling system, they can still wipe out even max-level players and live to tell the tale.

World of Warcraft

I know what you're thinking - this shouldn't even be possible, should it? But believe it or not, it's achievable because of an intentional system implemented by Blizzard with the release of the expansion, Battle for Azeroth, which was designed to ensure green players have a sporting chance if they happen upon high-level foes. Consequently, Rextroy has discovered that by stripping off, the scaling system ramps up the damage they inflict on others by an eye-watering 226 per cent.

This is - again, theoretically - offset by the fact any spells or attacks Rextroy attempts will be laughably weak, but items, such as grenades still get the 226 per cent buff regardless of character stats. By exploiting this and adding buffs that improve your critical hits... well, as you can see from Rextroy's video above, it makes you pretty much unstoppable.

Before you panic - no, WoW won't be overrun by naked paladins the next time you log in. Rextroy didn't release this video until after Blizzard had already fixed the exploit, so now the Mantid Firebomb can't be used beyond its initial zone. Sorry.
