The Ubisoft Forward digital conference kicks off this weekend, July 12th. The livestreamed event is taking place in lieu of whatever Ubisoft had in store for E3, so expect to see more from Assassin's Creed Valhalla, and Watch Dogs Legion. I wouldn't bet against a few surprise reveals, either.

But if that's not enough to get you to tune in, what about the prospect of a free game? Yep, make sure you're plugged in and ready to watch, and Ubisoft will reward you with a free copy of 2016's criminally underrated hacktion adventure Watch Dogs 2.

You can check out the pre-show shenanigans at 6:30pm BST on Sunday. It's here that the Ubisoft news team and "friends" will have a few games of Trackmania before the main show kicks off at 8pm BST.

Mercifully, you're not expected to sit through over an hour of other people playing Trackmania to claims Watch Dogs 2. You simply have to log in to Uplay at anytime between the end of the Trackmania session and the closing moments of the the main show. Do this, and Watch Dogs 2's stunning digital San Francisco is yours to explore.

"Don't forget to log in with your Uplay account anytime after Trackmania and before the end of the main show to claim a free copy of Watch Dogs 2 on PC, and to get a chance to answer trivia questions and win some rewards for a variety of Ubisoft titles," Ubisoft explained in a blog post. Simple, yeah? Yeah.

Some caveats. This promotion only applies to PC gamers, as its via the Uplay service. You'll also want to make sure that you already have a Uplay account so you aren't wasting precious time that could be spent claiming a free game. The good news is that unlike many of the other free trials and weekends from Ubisoft lately, this freebie is for you to keep. Once you've claimed it, it's yours. Always and forever.

I know a lot of you out there never really bothered with Watch Dogs 2, mostly because the first game was all hype and no sizzle. The good news is that I'm here to tell you that the sequel absolutely delivered on everything the original promised, and did so much more besides. At the low cost of nothing, I implore you to check it out if you never have.
