'World Of Warcraft' Introduces Two Upcoming Playable Races

'World Of Warcraft' Introduces Two Upcoming Playable Races

Foxes and robo-gnomes. Sure.

While World of Warcraft Classic might have been hogging the spotlight recently, Blizzard has absolutely no intentions of ditching the core World of Warcraft experience any time soon, as evidenced by the wealth of features confirmed to be coming in the massive new Visions of N'Zoth 8.3 update.

The upcoming major update for the long-running MMO will be entirely free, and introduces two new playable allied races, as well as a brand new story to sink our teeth (and time) into. Personally, I'm most interested in the new races, because adorable fox-type critters and cyborg gnomes are right up my alley. For some reason.

Blizzard

If you've been playing World of Warcraft since the inclusion of the Battle For Azeroth expansion, you'll likely already be familiar with the Vulpera - a race of cute fox people that predominately chill around the Vol'dun zone found on the island of Zandala and a part of the Horde faction.

The Vulpera won't be a default option when you start the game, unfortunately. Instead, you'll need to reach Exalted status with their faction and complete a special quest before you earn the chance to play as one.

The other race we'll able to get our hands on is the Mechagnomes, an imaginative name for what is essentially a race of steampunk gnomes.

Unlocked in a similar way to the Vulpera, these cybernetically-augmented chaps inhabit Mechagon, a previously lost city where gnomes decided to one day enhance their bodies with technology. I'll level with you, they're not exactly up there with the fox people in my opinion.

Blizzard

In addition to fox people and cyber-gnomes Visions of N'Zoth 8.3 will also include a brand new story that involves both the Alliance and the Horde races fighting an elder god.

This all comes from the latest developer content update preview video, where World of Warcraft game director Ion Hazzikostas also talked about N'Zoth invasions of Uldum and the newly-restored Vale of Eternal Blossoms in Pandaria. You can check out his comments on the update below.

While there's no official update for World of Warcraft's Visions of N'Zoth 8.3 update, Blizzard expects it'll be live on the public test server for players to have a fiddle with later today. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to prepare for the grind required to net me one of those adorable fox people, because I'm fully in love with them.
