An Assassin’s Creed fan has gone the extra mile this week and named his newborn son after a beloved protagonist, can you guess which one?

The lengths video game fans will go to show their dedication and loyalty to a series is truly remarkable. Whether it be collecting all the games and merchandise for a particular franchise or getting a tattoo of your favourite character there’s seemingly nothing people won’t do.

One Assassin’s Creed fan went above and beyond though, as they wholesomely named their newborn son after the legendary protagonist Ezio Auditore.

First appearing in Assassin’s Creed II, Ezio became one of the only protagonists to appear in more than one game. Ubisoft clearly recognise the passion fans have for the character as he’s pretty much become a poster boy for the entire franchise, as if often considered to be one of the greatest video game characters of all time.

Reddit user Assassinex loved the character so much that they recently shared a photo of a birth certificate, along with the caption “Yes I legally named my son Ezio.”

In all fairness, it’s a lovely name and fans congratulated the father on the new arrival. One even said the name Ezio “means ‘eagle,’” and has been a common Italian name “basically since Roman times.”

Of course others responded with some lighthearted fun, with one saying “may I be first to suggest Ratonhnhaké:ton for your next son?”

Another implied how hilarious it’d be if the child grew up to “hate” the Assassin’s Creed games, which hopefully won’t be the case.

It’s a wholesome story, and there’s really no better Assassin’s Creed character to name a child after. Of course if you wanted a more stealthy reference to Ubisoft’s games you coils have gone with Edward, or Connor, but they’re not as fun.
